Program Description

The ARC program is a 5-week co-curricular experience for students across Yale interested in the scientific commercialization of academic research. Students will have the opportunity to hear from and engage with Yale faculty, IP attorneys, industry experts, and venture capitalists in a series of 4 educational modules. Over the semester, students will apply the knowledge they gain in partnering with Yale faculty across the sciences to identify a commercialization pathway for their research.

Who is this program for?

<aside> 1️⃣ Students enrolled in Yale College or any of Yale’s graduate & professional schools.

</aside>

<aside> 2️⃣ Students looking to deepen their knowledge of the scientific commercialization process, intellectual property, market sizing, business development, and venture capital.

</aside>

<aside> 3️⃣ Students looking to gain hands-on experience working with a STEM faculty member to identify a commercialization pathway for their research.

Student Outcomes:

✅ Develop a thorough understanding of the scientific commercialization process from start to finish, learning from and engaging with industry experts, patent attorneys, professors, and seasoned investors.

✅ Build skills in assessing intellectual property, creating viable business models, licensing/ forming startups, performing market sizing, and securing venture funding.

✅ Gain hands-on experience working with a Yale faculty member to create a concrete commercialization plan.
